Treatment Therapies Explanations

Below are some of the Treatment therapies we offer explained

EMDR

Is a treatment that helps both children and adults process and heal from trauma or distressing experiences. It uses guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation while recalling traumatic memories, helping the brain reprocess these memories and reduce their emotional impact. EMDR is effective for treating PTSD, anxiety, and other emotional difficulties.

TF-CBT

Is a type of cognitive behavioural therapy tailored for trauma, focusing on how thoughts, emotions, and behaviours interact. It helps individuals, from children to adults, manage trauma-related symptoms like nightmares, anxiety, irritability, and intrusive thoughts by promoting healthier ways of thinking and coping.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a therapeutic approach that helps process trauma and emotional issues by identifying eye positions linked to distressing memories or experiences. By focusing on these “brainspots” while in a relaxed state, the brain can more effectively process and release stored trauma. It’s often used for trauma, anxiety, and other emotional conditions.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a therapeutic approach that helps individuals accept difficult emotions and thoughts rather than trying to eliminate them. It encourages taking action aligned with personal values while fostering psychological flexibility to better cope with life’s challenges.

Schema Therapy (ST)

Is an integrative therapy that combines elements of cognitive, behavioural, and psychodynamic approaches. It focuses on identifying and changing deeply rooted negative patterns, or “schemas,” developed in childhood. The therapy aims to help individuals break these patterns and adopt healthier behaviours, thoughts, and emotions.

Ego State Therapy (EST)

Is a therapeutic approach that focuses on different “ego states,” or parts of the personality, which can hold distinct emotions, thoughts, or memories. The therapy helps to identify and heal conflicted, wounded, or traumatised states to bring about integration and emotional balance. It’s often used for trauma, dissociation, and complex emotional issues.

Motivational Interviewing (MI)

Is a counselling technique designed to help individuals overcome ambivalence and strengthen their motivation for change. It involves a collaborative, non-confrontational approach that encourages clients to explore and resolve their own reasons for wanting to change, often used in addiction, health behaviour, and lifestyle interventions.

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP)

Is a body-centered approach that integrates physical sensations with traditional talk therapy to address trauma and emotional issues. It focuses on how the body holds onto trauma, helping individuals process unresolved experiences through awareness of physical sensations, movement, and body posture, fostering healing and emotional regulation.
